I was eager to go back to Will Rogers State Park the second week of my winter break. I loved it so much the week before and wanted to run more of it!
We got to see the sunrise! The view from Will Rogers is really spectacular.
This time, I was the tour guide for the run as my friends hadn’t gone before.
At this Inspiration Point sign, we went left on the trail. You can go up to Inspiration Point Loop or to the middle or to the left. We went left where there was a map of the trail.
We were all so excited to be on this new trail and explore!
We ran to the bridge and just soaked in the amazing view. You turn around 360 and there’s a great view everywhere you look.
Last time I ran at Will Rogers, we turned around at the bridge. We kept going this time and came to the Backbone Trail! We also saw where the trail that connects to Rustic Canyon! I was in awe at how all the trails connect!
Running more and more of the Santa Monica Mountains was such a big deal for me in 2015. I’ve gotten to know lots of the trails and look forward to getting to know more of the trails this year.
Besides the tree we climbed for a photo, the best thing we saw on the trail was this little sanctuary!
Someone left rose quartz scattered around so we made it into a heart and made a wish.
It got chilly on the Backbone Trail.
We turned around at 3 miles and ran a total of 6 but said it would be cool to run from Will Rogers to Backbone to Temescal or Will Rogers to Rustic. We said we could plan a really long run on these trails now that we know how they connect.
We live in Los Angeles but have these gorgeous mountains so close to us to help us get away from the hustle and bustle of it all. It’s really amazing to me. And I love the trail exploration my friends and I have been doing more of lately!
Sharing this all with my friends is the best! 2016 will be a year of exploration!
