Donate to Team Muscle Makers and Win! Raffle ends 6/29!

June 20, 2016 by Tam 1 Comment

wpid-fb_img_1433699366112.jpgI’m back at it, helping my favorite charity, Team Muscle Makers! I’m running the Star Wars 10k and Half Marathon in January 2017 for kids like my friend, Parker, who has Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy.

wpid-shapeimage_1.png

Team Muscle Makers’ mission is to raise awareness for Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (UCMD) is a rare form of muscular dystrophy with only a few hundred documented cases world wide. As a team, it is our goal to raise money for the research for new treatments and, one day, a cure for UCMD. We do this by running, making muscles, one mile at at time. The team’s founder, Melissa Mayorgas, was inspired by her son’s medical condition to start the organization. Melissa is an amazing mom, runner and friend.

My goal is to raise $800.  Raising this money benefits Team Muscle Makers and I get to run the Star Wars Light Side Rebel Challenge, consisting of the 10k and Half Marathon, January 14-15, 2017.

To kick off my fundraiser, I’m giving away awesome prizes!  For every $10 donation, you can get one entry for the following:

•  Momentum Jewelry set: 1 Motivate Wrap and 1 Foot Note

Check out the website for the great sayings for your wrap or foot note! I love having small reminders on my wrist and shoes to keep me going on a tough run.

wp-1466476716916.jpg

•  INKnBURN:  one $25 giftcard

wp-1466475365884.jpg

I always wear INKnBURN gear! It’s made in the US of A, locally in Southern California. The technical, performance gear is comfortable and lasts for years. It’s art on apparel and made so that you’ll stand out in the crowd!

wp-1464533416523.jpg

• Road ID:  two $15 gift cards

wp-1466475374711.png

Road ID is a leader in personalized identification gear. Everyone needs gear that you can save you in the event of an accident, when you can’t speak for yourself. I always wear my Wrist ID Slim when I run.

wpid-20150913_111943.jpg

• Thirty-One Bag: one bag to keep you organized

wp-1466475324910.jpg

I use these bags all the time to keep me organized! I have one for my running stuff, my school/teaching stuff, for grocery shopping and more!

• Simple Squares: 1 case of assorted flavors

wp-1466475345385.png

I love Simple Squares for long runs, when I’m tired of eating chews and just want real food. I love them as snacks, too. They only have 5 ingredients and are simply made!

wp-1466475484944.jpg

• BIC Bands Technical Trucker Hat: 1 technical trucker hat

wp-1466475506867.jpg

I love BIC Bands’ technical trucker hats! There are new designs, as pictured above. They’re comfy to wear and keep you protected on warm days.

wp-1466475386381.jpg

Donate through Wednesday, June 29th, 10 pm (PST) to be entered into the raffle! I’ll draw names that evening and announce the winners.  Special thanks to my amazing sponsors, INKnBURN, Road ID, Simple Squares and Momentum Jewelry for donating these prizes for my raffle! When I get to the 50% mark and 75% mark, I will throw in additional raffle prizes!

Donate here:

https://www.crowdrise.com/teammusclemakersforucmd1/fundraiser/tamarapremsrirath  Every $10 is one raffle entry!

Thank you for your support! Let’s make muscles, one mile at a time!

Star Wars Half Marathon, 1/17/16

January 21, 2016 by Tam Leave a Comment

wp-1459562861830.jpg

The force was with me on Sunday, January 17, 2016 when I ran the Star Wars Half Marathon at Disneyland! I ran the Star Wars 10k the day before and running the 10k and half would complete the Rebel Challenge!

wp-1459562035859.jpg

I met up with Team Muscle Makers for our group photo at 4:20 am! I was proud to run for such an awesome team, for a worthy cause.

wp-1459562198320.jpg

My friend, Angela and I, got to be in Corral A for the half! Yay! This was important as we needed to start running right away so that we could get a photo with Chewy and with BB-8! I had to get BB-8 today since I’m dressed as BB-8!

wp-1459562215897.jpg

We ran as fast as we could go and got in line for Chewy. It was only about a 15 minute wait and I saw fellow Orange Mud Ambassador, Jacky/Han Solo!

wp-1459562252026.jpg

Yeah, Chewy!!!

wp-1459562508397.jpg

We always see these girls at RunDisney races and they have the best costumes! Last year they were Tink Stormtroopers. For this race, they were Tink Princess Leia! So cool!

wp-1459562779867.jpg

We didn’t have time to get in line with C3-PO and R2 but I got great shot of them in between runners!

wp-1459562801893.jpg

We got in the BB-8 line and the wait wasn’t too bad. They eventually closed the line so we were lucky! I got to meet Dani in person! She looked awesome in her mash up costume as Chewy and Russell!

wp-1459562821500.jpg

Another awesome mash up costume! Prince Charming with a light saber! So clever!

wp-1459575774948.jpg

We were told the best shot was to kneel next to BB-8. We were allowed to touch him but just not touch his head. He was so cute!!!

wp-1459562947819.jpg

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

wp-1459562996014.jpg

After running through the parks, we ran through the streets of Anaheim and got to see the first batch of cosplayers!

wp-1459562981520.jpg

Fun!

wp-1459563029489.jpg

We ran to Garden Grove and I really liked running on Main Street! Then we ran down a street that was filled with cosplayers! I took so many photos!

wp-1459563052899.jpg

wp-1459563074078.jpg

wp-1459563076136.jpg

wp-1459563113007.jpg

I especially loved the Steampunk Star Wars cosplayers!

wp-1459563186813.jpg

wp-1459563207348.jpg

So many villains!

wp-1459563235633.jpg

wp-1459563239851.jpg

wp-1459563263506.jpg

wp-1459563274749.jpg

So many amazing costumes! It was fun to stop and take photos! Afterall, this was a Disney race and my motto is always to enjoy it and have fun!

wp-1459563295048.jpg

BB-8!

wp-1459563324595.jpg

Best water station sign!

wp-1459563333603.jpg

Yeah! I’m rollin’! I’m rollin’!

wp-1459563368257.jpg

Finally, the finish! There were Stormtroopers greeting us at the finish line.

wp-1459563383165.jpg

I got my half marathon medal and my Rebel Challenge medal!

wp-1459563412811.jpgI had so much fun with Angela and just enjoying every moment! It was great to see runners in costume and I really loved the cosplayers!

wp-1459563433936.jpg

Afterward, we went for our special breakfast! So good! It was an amazing weekend–running, Star Wars, dressing up and being with friends! The force was strong with us all!

Team Muscle Makers Luncheon, 1/16/16

January 20, 2016 by Tam Leave a Comment

wp-1459561832914.jpg

As a thank you for being part of Team Muscle Makers, all of the members got to attend a nice luncheon after the 10k.

wp-1459561820429.jpg

I sported my Team Muscle Makers tech shirt!

wp-1459561854648.jpg

We had really good food at Naples–salad, pasta and dessert. I got to meet other teammates and chat with the founders of Team Muscle Makers.

wp-1459561868589.jpg

I donated two Momentum Jewelry foot notes.

wp-1459561880978.jpg

There were great raffle prizes that were Star Wars or running related! I bought tons of tickets this time since I learned how it all works when I was last here for the Avengers luncheon. I really wanted to win!

wp-1459561922825.jpg

I did win a Stormtrooper lanyard which was perfect since I was Minnie Stormtrooper for the race! This guy is Parker and we run for him! He has Ulrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and the money raised is donated to the muscle disease clinic at Rady Children’s Hospital where Parker received amazing care.

wp-1459561902786.jpg

Parker’s mom, Melissa Mayorgas, founded Team Muscle Makers. She wanted to give back to the clinic that had given such wonderful care to her son. She ran her first Disney race and on the way home, at the airport, someone asked which charity she ran for. She didn’t run for a charity but it got her thinking that she should! And that’s how Team Muscle Makers was born! Melissa and her best friend, Lonna, volunteer their time and 95% of the funding is donated to Rady Children’s Hospital. Both of their families make a trip out of the weekend, run the races and visit the parks. When I ran with Team Muscle Makers for Avengers last November, I knew this was something special I had become a part of and felt lucky, once more, to be part of the team. Running for Parker and others who have muscular dystrophy inspires me to push on and challenge myself. We’re running for those who can’t. We’re making muscles, one mile at a time!

Star Wars 10k, 1/16/16

January 19, 2016 by Tam 1 Comment

wp-1459561469608.jpg

I ran the Star Wars 10k on January 16, 2016 as Minnie Stormtrooper! My friend, Angela and I, raised money for Team Muscle Makers to support research and awareness for a rare type of muscular dystrophy, Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy.

wp-1459557115784.jpg

As usual, with a 5:30 am start, I was at the park at about 3:45 am to give myself enough time to park and get my things together. I walked to the meet-up area and got this cool photo! I was reaching for the light saber and just had to use the force!

wp-1459557149821.jpg

I met up with Team Muscle Makers and we took our team photo!

wp-1459560178781.jpg

I got to see my friend, Emelia!

wp-1459561126828.jpg

We got into our corral and listened to the announcers and watched the skit.

wp-1459561178593.jpg

Our first stop was Boba Fett!

wp-1459561211498.jpg

I love Yoda!

wp-1459561216221.jpg

I ran into my friend, Mary Ann!

wp-1459561244841.jpg

We ran through the castle!

wp-1459561278279.jpg

We wanted to get a photo with Chewy but the line was closed. Bummer! On the other hand, Small World looked so pretty!

wp-1459561304825.jpg

We don’t always get to run by Indian Jones and the Jungle Cruise so this was a treat!

wp-1459561330332.jpg

We ran back through Main Street.

wp-1459561348447.jpg

Our friends!

wp-1459561378766.jpg

We ran through the front of the Disneyland to California Adventure!

wp-1459561399107.jpg

The BB-8 line was a 45 minute wait with a chance of getting swept so we didn’t risk it. We got a quick selfie from afar. Tomorrow, our goal would be to run fast and get in the Chewy line and then the BB-8 line. We hoped they’d be out the next day, too.

wp-1459561420936.jpg

I remembered this couple from last year! They had the best costumes last year but this year, these types of costumes were banned.

wp-1459561439763.jpg

Trash compacter!

wp-1459561452344.jpg

Cars Land!

wp-1459561469608.jpg

We got to take a selfie with R2! I love him!

wp-1459561525449.jpg

This group was rowdy, loud and full of energy! They were amazing!

wp-1459561595150.jpg

Wild ride!

wp-1459561693017.jpg

It was such a fun course and an awesome race! We got photos and made an important photo goal for the next day!

wp-1459561787684.jpg

The medal was amazing, as usual! After the race, we got breakfast and relaxed. I rested for a bit and then had the Team Muscle Makers luncheon next! Fun, fun, fun!

July 19, 2017 By Tam 9 Comments

Disclaimer: I was given a sample tray of GoMacro’s MacroBars. As always, all opinions are my own. I was excited when GoMacro reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try their MacroBars. I had seen GoMacro bars in the store but hadn’t tried them. I am always on the lookout for good…
