My last run of 2016 ended up being my long run for the weekend!
There was a chance of rain for Saturday, December 31, 2016 and you know, us Angelenos think the world is ending when it rains. I figured I’d get in as many miles as I could and I picked a trail that does well on rainy days, Westridge.
I decided to try my new Orange Mud arm warmers! They’re super comfy, made from bamboo. I wore them the whole run!
I sported my new Ultra Gam gaiters, too! 🙂 I had my rain jacket which was good but I had to take off the buff around my neck and my gloves. I actually got too hot and was wet from the sweat. Sometimes it’s hard to get it right when I think it’s going to be cold.
I ran into some runner friends on the way up Westridge and my friend, Laura, caught up to me around mile 8.5. (She only caught up because she ran late. Normally she’s wayyyy ahead of me.)
It was nice to catch up with Laura! The rain was holding up so we kept going and got to Eagle Rock. This was my first time running from Westridge to Eagle Rock. I love how all of the trails connect!
We decided to go to Eagle Rock for a few minutes despite the chance of rain. It’s so beautiful and one of our favorite spots.
As we descended Eagle Rock, we felt a drop! Nooooo!!! Lol. We decided to head back. It was about Mile 10.5 for me. I’d have to make up a little at the end to get the 22 miles in.
I had plenty of fuel including my Simple Squares!
I had a good run on the way back. We stopped to get water at Top of Reseda. Laura waited for me at the top of Nike Tower.
We got rained on in the last 3-4 miles. It was soft, drizzly rain so it wasn’t too bad.
We survived the rain and got in 22 miles! It was great to run with my good friend, Laura! I felt strong and was just glad it didn’t rain too hard! Running in the rain makes you tougher, right? I’m thankful I got in a great, tough run on the last day of 2016! Let’s see what’s in store for me in the new year!
