Last week was filled with Star Wars fun! I’m a big Star Wars fan so I just kept on celebrating, in my teaching life and in my running life!
May the Fourth Be With You at School!
We had May the Fourth Be With You Day at my school! The kids dressed up and the teachers dressed up! I had nothing to do with this! 😉 As the representative for our teacher union, I hosted a teacher appreciation breakfast with a Star Wars theme! The teachers had to choose to sit on the Dark Side or the Light Side! We had everything from Princess Leia Cinnamon Buns to Force Fruit!
My class has second grade buddies and we invited them to run relay races with us to celebrate Star Wars! The kids loved the May the Fourth Be With You Relay Races. They talked about it for days beforehand, in anticipation.
The students had to pass the light saber baton!
They ran with their buddies and formed teams with other buddies.
The kids were so cute, holding hands with their 2nd grade buddies! I instructed my students to keep pace with them and guide them to the next pair of runners. We ran several heats for fun and they had a great time!
May the Fourth Be With You at Running Club
At my running club, AREC, we had a May the Fourth Be With You Run, too! I just wore the same INKnBURN BB-8 outfit that I wore at school! My friend, Laura, joined me for this special run and I ran the fastest 5 miler I’d run in a while!
I donated Simple Squares for the raffle! These bars are really good. They’re simply made with just 5 ingredients.
The winner of my Simple Squares raffle prize! I hope she likes the bars as much as I do!
Revenge of the Fifth de Mayo at School
The next day was Revenge of the Fifth! I love these Star Wars puns! Haha. I incorporated Cinco de Mayo into my outfit and dressed for Revenge of the Fifth de Mayo! I taught my students about puns so they loved my mash up!
Revenge of the Sith de Mayo for Running
I decided to continue my Revenge of the Fifth de Mayo mash up for my training run after work. I wore my Storm Trooper shirt with Calavera capris and my Calavera hat! So much fun!
My Coyote/Dirt Diva and Dude friends and I ran at Trailer Canyon. We’re back in training mode now and we will run Trailer on Thursdays. We started with a nice pick-me-up shot to start the run! 😉
It was a lovely, cool evening. The clouds were amazingly brilliant.
I pushed to the top. I felt so good and I was thankful that my friend, Laura, was pushing me some more!
We could see a rainbow in the far off distance. We just sat and soaked it in.
We ran down the mountain and just caught a little drizzle on the way down. We finished our workout with toe taps and sprints! We decided to make it a habit of incorporating a speed or strength drill after each Trailer Canyon run!
I’m pumped about our Trailer Canyon runs and I know we’ll help each other get stronger. I’m lucky to have good friends and training partners! My Star Wars week was pretty awesome! I got to dress up, run and make people happy with breakfast! The force was strong with us all!
