Will run for dim sum! My sister and I use this motto for this race, the Firecracker 5k in Chinatown LA!
This is my 6th time running this 5k! Now my sister and I run it as our annual tradition!
We checked in early this year because we wanted to make sure we got good parking. We arrived in Chinatown at 6 am and parked near Won Kok, our favorite place to get buns and treats after the race.
We picked up our bibs and shirts. We got cool reusable white grocery bags!
Year of the Rooster!
We got to meet up with running friends! Yay!
100,000 firecrackers at the start!
Dragon dancers at the start, too!
The Clipper Spirit Team lead a warm-up.
We started running at 8 am.
We wondered if the course would be a little different this year since last year we ran a different route. We did a slightly different route again this year. I liked crossing over the bridge, over the LA River.
There are pretty views from Chinatown!
Dragon selfies at the finish!
Finishers! The course was a little short and measured 3 miles exactly.
We went and got our post-race goodies. We always pack a reusable bag for all of the goodies!
I packed our bag and my post-race shirt in my Orange Mud Gear Quiver. 🙂 The Gear Quiver is awesome for short runs or a slim backpack. I thought I might have to change at the restaurant but it wasn’t opened yet so we headed back to the car. We were really early on things this year!
We cleaned up with our Action Wipes and changed into dry gear! I wore the race shirt. We love the race shirts because they’re soft!
We got in line for dim sum at Ocean Seafood Restaurant. We hadn’t been there before but my friend recommended it. It opened at 9:30 am and we got there at about 9:20 am. It’s a huge restaurant so we sat right away. Will run for dim sum!
My sister and I always have a good time together at this race! We get to run and eat! I always buy red envelopes for my class and we make a stop at Won Kok. We’ve got our routine down! We love it! We can’t wait till next year!
