There are two components to the program: the online video workouts and the supplements. I’ll go through each and tell you how I incorporated them into my running routine.
BeFit BURN helps your body create thermogenesis (heat) which then helps the body metabolize and burn fat. It also helps support healthy blood sugar levels to help manage cravings and curb your appetite.
I was excited to try BeFit BURN since I’ve been struggling with my eating regimen since the holidays. I have been inconsistent since I ran my 50k in November, which lead right into the holidays and my birthday. There’s just always something! And now that I’m in my 40s, my metabolism isn’t what it used to be.
As instructed, I take two capsules daily, 10 minutes before my largest meal of the day. Generally, this meal is dinner but sometimes I take it at lunch because I’m better at remembering to take supplements when I’m at work. I’m still taking the capsules but I have noticed that I’m going to the restroom more and I’ve started losing inches! It’s just what I needed to kick start my goal to lose inches and drop weight.
The BeFit PRE is a pre-workout supplement and helps give you energy, endurance and focus! It’s made of “two powerful, clinically studied ingredients, elevATP and BetaPower Natural Betaine. ElevATP is an extract from peat water and apples that stimulates the production of ATP–the body’s energy source. Betaine is derived from sugar beets and helps to improve muscle endurance.”
I mix a scoop with about 6 ounces of cold water and drink 15 minutes prior to a workout. I like the taste and I love that it gives me a boost of energy when I’m feeling tired after work.
I drank it one night before a repeat hill training session when I was feeling unmotivated. It gave me boost of energy and I completed my workout successfully! I always feel great after a run and sometimes I just need that pick-me-up to get me going.
BeFit WHEY PROTEIN is a whey isolate and casein combination that helps satisfy your appetite and support muscle recovery. “Whey protein isolate is quickly digested and absorbed, helping you feel full faster. Casein protein is considered a slow-release protein, which enable the naturally occurring amino acids a longer window of time to help muscles recover. The combination of whey and casein in one supplement means you’re getting the best of both worlds.”
I like that each scoop is 22 grams of protein. It doesn’t have artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners so the taste is great! I’ve tried many protein powders and they often have an after taste. This one doesn’t have that chalky after taste that most have. It’s sugar free, gluten free and only 100 calories per scoop.
I’ve been putting a scoop in my green smoothie for my afternoon snack. I’ve had difficulty making sure I’m full in the afternoon for my run and making that last through the run, before dinner. It’s hard since I often run after work around 5 or 6 pm. It’s just about dinner time but too early to eat dinner before a run. So I have a green smoothie beforehand and it keeps me full for the duration of the run and sometimes I have a bit leftover to have after the run.
I always make the same green smoothie, as it’s just easy and routine.
I fill my NutriBullet cup with the following:
- 1/2 or 2/3 of the NutriBullet container filled with dark greens (spinach, kale)
- one scoop of BeFit protein powder
- 1/2 cup of coconut or almond milk
- 1 tsp of hemp or flax seed
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 15-20 drops of grapefruit seed extract (it’s great for keeping colds away!)
- 7 raw almonds
- small piece of fruit
- small piece of fresh ginger or turmeric
- add water to max fill line
BeFit also provides awesome 30 day workout videos on YouTube. The videos are about 10 minutes long and incorporate cardio, strength and core work. There’s a 30 day plan using a downloadable calendar.
I didn’t follow the 30 day plan when I started as I was in the middle of my 50k training. I have incorporated workouts after runs. I would open a video on my phone and do the workout! Easy! I’m not very good at putting in strength training workouts with my running so this was perfect as there’s a person telling you what to do and it’s short and sweet!
I was forced to do things I don’t normally do like planks and…
and variations of planks! Ten minutes doesn’t seem like much and it’s better than not doing any strength or core training at all. I was able to get in 1-2 a week and already feel a difference. I especially like the Metabolic Booster workout which would get progressively harder but since I knew it was just for 10 minutes, I pushed through.
I definitely think that if I can devote 30 days to program, as it’s prescribed, it would be great for me. Right now, I’m thinking about my 50k training and it’s hard to focus on everything. So for now, I’m aiming for 1-2 of the video workouts as I’m trying to dial in my clean eating and supplements. The videos are easy to follow and don’t require any equipment except maybe weights. You can access them on your phone so you could squeeze one in after work or after a run! There are many videos on the playlist so you won’t get bored.
