The Santa Monica Classic 10K, on September 13, 2015 was a chance for me to hang out with my peeps, Linzie and Emelia! We all met two years ago as INKnBURN ambassadors and I admire them tremendously as runners and bloggers. They were running this race as Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon ambassadors and I wanted to join in on the fun!
The race was well organized. It began at 2600 Barnard Way but I parked at the Civic Center since the race ends on Ocean and Broadway. So I walked a mile to the start and over a mile to get back to my car.
I love seeing running friends at races and this time, I got to see a fellow Team NutriBullet teammate!
We started after the 5k and it was already warm at 8:30 am!
We ran on Ocean Blvd and passed the finish line of the Los Angeles Marathon.
We ran to San Vicente which is a steady uphill.
Just after the Mile 4 marker, we turned around and ran back down San Vicente which I preferred! San Vicente is also part of the Los Angeles Marathon course.
We got nice bling at the finish!
I walked to the Santa Monica Pier afterward, to the Finish Festival. We had to pick up our finisher shirts at the pier.
I met up with Emelia and we walked to get coffee. It’s always good seeing her as she lives up north and I last got to hang out with her when we ran the Zooma Napa Valley Half together!
Overall, the Santa Monica Classic is a good race. I had a great time despite the heat and my tired legs. I know I wouldn’t have gotten a run otherwise so I’m glad I ran this race. I was also happy to hang out with running friends who I don’t get to see often enough!
Till the next race!
