Avengers assemble! I ran the RunDisney Avenger Half Marathon on Sunday, November 15, 2015. I ran the Captain America 10k the day before (read about my adventure here!) and the half on Sunday would complete the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge!
I met up with my team, Team Muscle Makers for Ulrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy for a team photo! I was really honored to be part of the team for this race. Thank you so much, to all of my friends who donated! I came on last minute to help the team fill spots and the money raised went directly to the Rady Children’s Hospital. It was amazing to be part of this special group!
I love meeting up with friends before the start!
My friend, Angela, and I waited in the corrals. Our plan was to take it easy as I was still recovering from my 50k the week before! We were going to have fun and take lots of photos!
We ran through Cars Land first.
We ran into our friends!
We weren’t in California Adventure too long, sadly. Disneyland was our next stop.
We took a jaunt through Frontierland and then turned right and headed to Fantasyland.
After Fantasyland, we went through a backlot area to Main Street. We didn’t get to run much through the parks at all which was a little disappointing.
We ran on the riverbed which wasn’t very scenic but it at least we were heading to Angels Stadium.
I had my Honey Stinger chews to keep me fueled!
Luckily, we were entertained by the cosplayers on the riverbed! Woohooo!!!
It was such a surprise!
We wondered if there would be cosplayers for this race like at the Star Wars Half.
The cosplayers were really awesome and they gave us a boost!
Our running friend’s son’s high school band was playing for us on the riverbed, too! We got to see our friend, Shelly!
Hooray, Angels Stadium!
I met Squirrel Girl!
We got to run inside Angels Stadium! Very cool!
We around the baseball field.
There was a band playing on the field, too!
We took our time in the stadium and just enjoyed it all!
Wow! We left the stadium and were treated to spectators who were members of a WWII historical society. Members of the military were there to support us, too. It was really, really awesome.
Captain America’s time period!
I loved that they were cheering us on!
There were so many of them, too. It was super cool.
Another surprise! Dancers!
Check out my video of the dancers!
I danced along for a bit. I wanted to stay there all day! We had about 5 miles to go and it didn’t seem so bad now that we got a boost from seeing all of the entertainment.
We ran through the streets of Anaheim and back to Disney territory. I was so happy to see the finish line!
Double bling! We got our Avenger Half spinner medal and the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge medal, too. Disney medals are the best!
Angela and I went to have breakfast, our tradition! We were both craving Mickey waffles! Yum!
It was a good race and an awesome weekend! I was tired but took it easy and just enjoyed it all which is what Disney is about anyway! I had so much fun dressing up as a comic nerd and was especially honored to run for Team Muscle Makers! I can’t wait to be back for the Star Wars weekend!
