The JetBlue Long Beach Half Marathon was so much fun that I had to write about it in 3 parts–pre-race, race and post-race! It’s a big race weekend for me and this year was extra special since it was my 100th lifetime half!
Okay, so now for the post-race fun!
After the race, I went to the Running Club Village to say hi to my AREC running club friends and celebrate.
It was great to talk to friends and see how everyone’s races went. I loved hearing about PRs, successes and tough times on the course. We all talked about how hot it was, record-setting hot for this race!
I always change after a race, so I went to get into dry clothes and ran into many friends! Running into friends really is the best part of running a race!
I was so lucky to be an ambassador for this race this year. It really made #100 extra special! All of the ambassadors were invited to the VIP tent for post-race festivities! Fancy! 🙂
The new partnership with JetBlue was evident and that’s a good thing. The orange and blue everywhere was awesome. (I love orange and blue for the Chicago Bears!)
There was a nice spread for the guests. I had a yummy omelette.
There were all sorts of pastries and drinks, too! I brought my own cold brew coffee since it was super hot. Yes, I like to be prepared! 🙂
The view from the VIP tent is the best! I got to sit and watch runners come in!
Wayne did the Bike Tour and ran the half at 7:30 am. I got to see him finish!
He got to join me in the VIP Tent for breakfast, too. Did I mention there was bacon, sausage and potatoes, too?
I had to make the most of the VIP Tent–who knows if I’ll ever get this special privilege again!
After the VIP Tent, we made our way over to the beer garden. I got to see more friends along the way.
My friends were waiting in the beer garden to celebrate my 100th half! Every year, we sit, relax and talk about our races. We always see the same guy dancing in front of the stage, too. It’s pretty awesome. Shock Top is the sponsor of the Beach Bum beer garden and the beer is always good. There were two varieties being served. I love being a Beach Bum with all of its perks!
We closed out the beer garden, as usual. Running friends really are the best.
We went to get the bikes afterward. The bike corral is a nice option for the participants doing the Bike Tour/Half combo. You can keep your bike there safely. I was so proud of Dulce and Wayne for doing the combo!
What an amazing weekend it was! It was nonstop but awesome! It really was a celebration! I feel so lucky to have run so many races. I was so honored to represent the race as an ambassador. I am a lucky girl to be part of this community of people. Thank you, running friends, for sharing this amazing milestone with me and allowing me to be a part of this special family.
