On January 10, 2016, I ran the Kick Off New Year 10k with A Better World Running!
It was a gorgeous morning in Long Beach!
I volunteered at bib pick-up first.
My assistant principal happened to be at the race, too! It was great to see her out there!
There was a nice turn-out!
I felt great on the run! I knew I would be tired after a grueling 20 miler in the San Juan Trails the day before but I actually felt good!
I wanted to get this 10k in so that I’d have a back-to-back training weekend and get in some road miles for LA. I’ve been running lots on trails and don’t really want to run road but I need to.
I had a SunRype snack during the race. Yum!
I finished strong and that’s always the goal!
I felt great, starting out the second weekend of the new year with back to back runs, including a race!
Afterward, my A Better World Running friends (Cortney and Jennifer who are ABWR regulars and Michelle, ABWR Race Director) had brunch to celebrate three January birthdays! Yay! We never get to just sit and chat so it was nice! Running and friends is a beautiful thing that I’m very grateful to have!
